Time and Work Questions Answers
Question 1). Consider that A and B two person can finish a task in 4 days. Now if the person “A” can finish that task in total 12 days alone, you have to find out that in how many days person “B” can alone complete that task?
A. 4 days
B. 5 days
C. 6 days
D. 7 days

Correct Answer: Option C
Complete Explanation:
(A+B)'s 1 day work = 1/4
A's 1 day work = 1/12
B's 1 day work = (1/4−1/12)
                             = 3−1/12
                             = 1/6
Therefore B alone can finish complete work in 6 days. So Option C is Correct.

Question 2).  Person “A” complete a task in 10 days & a second person named as  “B” perform that task in 15 days. Now you have to find out that in how many days they together finish that same work?
A. 5 days
B. 6 days
C. 7 days
D. 8 days

Correct Answer: Option B
Complete Explanation:
In such type of question First you have to calculate the 1 day work of both person “A” & “B”. After that by adding we can get collective days for them,
So, A's 1 day work = 1/10
B's 1 day work = 1/15
(A+B)'s 1 day work =  (1/10+1/15)=(3+2/30)=1/6
Therefore if both of them work together they will finish the work in 6 days.

Question 3). If a person named as “A” can finish a work in total 18 days & another person named as “B” can perform the same work in half the time taken by A. then working together, what part of same work they can finish in a day ?
A. 1\5
B. 1\6
C. 1\7
D. 1\8

Correct Answer: Option B
Complete Explanation:
In such type of question firstly note that, we need to find out the part of work for a day rather than complete work. It was worth mentioning here because many do mistake at this point in hurry to solve the question

therefore lets solve this Time Work Problem:
A's 1 day work = 1/18
B's 1 day work = 1/9 [because B take half time than A]

(A+B)'s one day work = (1/18+1/9)=(1+2/18)=1/6
Therefore in one day 1/6 work will be done.

Question 4). We have a person named as “A” who is 2 time faster than person B. When together they work finish a piece of work in 18 days. Now you have to find out in how many days will B can finish that piece of work alone?
A. 27 days
B. 54 days
C. 56 days
D. 68 days

Correct Answer: Option B
Complete Explanation:
On the basis of given question:
A can perform the work 2 time faster than B. so the work ratio is as follow
So A:B = 2:1
Also we have (A+B) one day work = 1/18

To get days in which B will finish the work, lets calculate work done by B in 1 day =
= (1/181/3)=1/54
[Important note we multiplied by 1/3 as per B share and total of ratio is 1/3]
So B will finish the work in 54 days alone

Question 5). To finish a piece of work the workmen “A” and “B” takes 8 days while the workmen “B” and “C” takes 12 days and if three of them A,B and C work together than they takes 6 days. How much time will A and C tak to finish the same work?
A. 24 days
B. 16 days
C. 12 days
D. 8 days

Correct Answer: Option D
Complete Explanation:
A+B 1 day work = 1/8
B+C 1 day work = 1/12
A+B+C 1 day work = 1/6

We can get A work by (A+B+C)-(B+C)
And C by (A+B+C)-(A+B)
So A 1 day work = 1/6−1/12 =1/12
Similarly C 1 day work = 1/6−1/8 = 4−3/24
So A and C 1 day work = 1/12 + 1/24=3/24=1/8

So A and C can together do this work in 8 days.
