Career at State Bank of India: In FY25, 85% of POs and associates Will be hired by SBI from Engineering Stream

Opening in SBI: The State Bank of India (SBI) will hire 12,000+ new employees in the following fiscal year 2025. Mr. Dinesh Khara, the chairman of SBI, states that engineering graduates make up 85% of the 12,000 new hires anticipated for the bank in FY25.

According to a PTI article, Khara stated that there is no deliberate preference for engineers in the bank's employment process, and they are being hired as associates and probationary officers.

The POs (numbering over 3,000) and associates (numbering over 8,000) will be assigned to various business tasks within the bank after completing initial training, which includes banking principles.

Although some banks are having trouble with it, the banking industry is depending more and more on technology to interact with clients in new and creative ways.

According to a remark from Khara, "We expose them to banking and then channelize them into various roles in business and IT, depending on their aptitude and temperament, and that is something which is helping us ensure that the bank has a continuous supply of tech manpower."

This is taking place at a time when the IT industry, a popular choice for engineering graduates, is seeing a decline in attrition. Consequently, despite the abundance of engineering expertise, IT organizations are hiring fewer graduates.

The chairman of SBI stated that the company makes significant investments in employee training and has an internal institute specifically tasked with improving technical skills.

He also underlined how crucial it is for all employees to stay current with technology, pointing out that because the bank handles so many transactions, it is imperative that employees be tech-savvy.

"We cannot ignore technology; it is very important," he stated, adding that the bank frequently receives regulatory guidance on these issues.

The RBI has recently placed more emphasis on technology and fined banks for any inadequacies.

Khara noted that the bank spends more on technology than any other in the industry, but she declined to share the exact amount. It is more than the industry norm of 7-8% of operating expenses, according to an official.

NCERT Granted University Status by Education Minister: A Game-Changer for Indian Education

In a recent announcement on 2nd Sept. 2023, the Minister of Education revealed that the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been granted university status. This decision comes as a significant development for the organization, which has been a prominent institution in the field of education in India for several decades. With this status, NCERT will now have the authority to offer and award degrees to students in various fields of study. This change is expected to enhance the reputation and academic standing of NCERT and provide students with more diverse educational opportunities.

NCERT has been given a University Status by the Education Minister of India. According to the announcement made by the Union Minister for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been given the status of deemed university.

At a celebration in the nation's capital honoring NCERT's 63rd founding anniversary, he made the statement.

The Council has made a significant impact on research and actively influenced adult literacy, teacher preparation, and schooling. The Council will provide prospects for international cooperation and contributions to the global educational scene if it becomes a research university, he continued.

  • Jadui Pitara, a play-based learning and teaching resource created by NCERT for kids between the ages of 3 and 8, will emerge as a tool for transformation that will help the nation's 10 crore children, he emphasized.

In his speech, he emphasized the importance of creating content in regional languages. He suggested that all seven NCERT regional centres should set up labs for augmented reality, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence. These labs should be equipped with the latest technologies available globally and have future-proof infrastructure. He believes this is necessary for India to become a global center for research and innovation. He also recommended that the Council align its ECCE's teacher training curriculum with NCERT.

In light of the "Industrial Revolution 4.0," Pradhan proposed creating short pamphlets on a variety of topics that would provide information on topics like Chandrayaan 3 and India's COVID-19 management. The newest advancements as well as Indian values and ethos must be conveyed to the next generations, he said.

Along with a song performed in 22 languages, the students from the Regional Institute of Education, Bhopal, also performed a sketch about Jadui Pitara during the event. Several key Council efforts and accomplishments were featured in a brief film that was screened at the event.

On this occasion, Pradhan also opened a new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory for the CIET.

IIM Mumbai MBA Admissions 2023: Three MBA programs at the Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai, will now accept scores from the CAT 2023, the Common Admission Test.

On August 8, 2023, a significant event occurred in the Indian education system when the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha passed the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) Amendment Bill. This bill replaced the outdated IIM 2017 Act and brought about several changes in the IIM system.

The most notable change was the addition of the National Institute of Industrial Engineering as the 21st institute under the IIM umbrella. The institute was also renamed IIM Mumbai, which was a significant move in itself.

This change was aimed at uplifting the education sector and providing quality management education to students across the country. The new IIM Mumbai was expected to offer world-class management education and research opportunities to students and faculty, further strengthening the IIM system.

Overall, the IIM (Amendment Bill) was a landmark decision that would have far-reaching effects on the Indian education system and the economy as a whole.

A bill has been proposed by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan that seeks to limit the independence of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). The primary aim of this bill is to designate the President as the visitor of IIMs. As a result, IIM Mumbai has decided to incorporate the use of the CAT 2023 score in the selection process for its Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs in business administration, operations and supply chain management, and sustainability management. This move is expected to improve the quality of candidates selected for these programs as the CAT 2023 score is known to be a reliable indicator of academic performance and potential.

Rajya Sabha & Lok Sabha approved CAT 2023 for IIM Mumbai MBA admissions.

CAT 2023 Exam Date and Last Day to Apply

The admissions process and application form will be made available separately for these programs at the website, www.iimmumbai.ac.in, in due course, according to IIM Mumbai. The test will be administered this year in IIM Lucknow, and registration for CAT 2023 has already begun.
