following posts under the Gramin Dak Sevak engagement:
Branch
Postmaster (BPM): The Branch Postmaster is
responsible for managing the day-to-day postal operations of the Branch Post
Office. Duties include handling postal services, India Post Payments Bank
transactions, marketing postal products, and overall supervision of the office.
Selected candidates must arrange suitable accommodation for running the branch post office at their own cost and must reside in the same village where the
post office is located.
Assistant
Branch Postmaster (ABPM): The Assistant Branch
Postmaster assists the BPM in postal operations such as mail delivery, sale of
stamps and stationery, IPPB transactions, and customer service activities.
ABPMs may also be required to perform BPM duties when directed by higher authorities.
Dak
Sevak: Dak Sevaks are engaged in Departmental Post
Offices, Sub Post Offices, Head Post Offices, and Railway Mail Service units.

INDIA POST GDS SALARY 2026 – PAY
SCALE AND ALLOWANCES
The
Gramin Dak Sevaks are paid Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) along with
Dearness Allowance as per government rules.
- The TRCA pay scale for the Branch
Postmaster ranges from Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 29,380.
- For Assistant Branch
Postmaster and Dak Sevak, the TRCA pay scale ranges from Rs. 10,000 to Rs.
24,470.
Apart from TRCA, GDS employees
are entitled to annual increments, Dearness Allowance, GDS Gratuity, and the Service Discharge Benefit Scheme as per GDS rules.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR GDS

AGE BOND: The
minimum age required to apply for this India Post GDS vacancy is 18 years,
while the maximum age limit is 40 years as of the last date of application

application fee is Rs.100 for the candidates who belong to the General, OBC,
and EWS male categories. The female candidates of all castes—SC, ST, PwBD, and
transwomen applicants are exempted from payment of the application fee. The fee,
once paid, will not be refunded under any circumstances.
SELECTION PROCESS FOR INDIA POST GDS

The
selection of applicants will be done purely on the basis of 10th-class marks. The merit list will be prepared based on Class 10 marks. There
will be no written examination or interview conducted for the selection
of candidates for these government jobs in India. The 10th class marks will
be calculated automatically by the system up to four decimal places.
In
case of a tie, preference will be given based on age, category, and gender as per the prescribed rules.
